A Lifetime of Adventure
Over the many years as a freelance professional photographer and journalist, I've provided countless award-winning bird, wildlife images and stories to numerous publications across America. Through my prints, postcards, souvenir magnets, newspaper and magazine articles, it's estimated that millions of individuals have viewed my works.
I've loved taking pictures since I was just a youngster. My favorite aunt gave me a Kodak Box camera on my eight birthday (back in the late 1950's) and i was hooked. Fast forward to the mid 1980's, I was selling my images (and stories) to various regional publications when a friend suggested I enter a highly competitive photo contest for professionals, being judged by the photo editors of Arizona Highways Magazine. I knew I didn't stand much of a chance but, I jumped at the opportunity and went for it. To my Astonishment, I won first and second place in both Wildlife and Scenic categories. I was on my way, or so I thought. As it turned out, that was the last time I would ever enter a photo contest. I began to concentrate on writing, and photography became the kicker to selling my lifestyle and news stories.
Even though I'd never taken a class on photography, I was eventually offered the opportunity to teach photography as a traveling instructor for a major university, conducting field seminars throughout the Southwest. I made it a point that every one of my students would, if nothing else, walk away with the realization, "There's a picture around every corner."
Professionally, I have photographed many different subjects, scenes, and moments for various newspapers and magazines. I'm also a former soldier, law enforcement officer, public speaker. salesman, and professional race car driver. Now, I invite you to bring my images and bits of my life's stories into your life and home. New prints of my work are being released regularly, so check back often.
